Today it’s all about Steampunk, a very unique, retro style that blends sci-fi and history. Steampunk fans typically wear dark colored leather, big goggles, thick-heeled engineering boots and various other little trinkets. Often, fictional devices are created in the way 19th century thinkers may have envisioned (like weird timepieces or exotic instruments). When done well, Steampunk attire can be impressive, memorable and pretty damn sexy.
Want to make your own Steampunk at home? Here are some ideas:
- Purchase knick knacks from your local second-hand shop or Salvation Army. Don’t have one of those near you? Try a hardware store.
- The busier, the better. Attach extra leather strapping, bags, pockets and pouches for an even more intriguing look.
- Re-purpose old ski goggles with buckles, nuts, bolts and magnifying glasses. It’ll be much cheaper than buying a pair online.
