There was a great turnout at this morning’s 5K Run and Walk sponsored by Bermuda Air Conditioning. Over 240 people plus family and friends gathered on Mills Creek Road for a 9am start time. With a light breeze and not a cloud in the sky, we could not have asked for better weather. Starting at the roundabout in front of Price Busters, runners and walkers made their way past Gorhams, Arnolds, Saltus and the National Stadium before turning left onto Blackwatch Pass and North Shore Road. The final stretch in front of Admiralty House and on St. John’s Road was filled with cheering onlookers and photographers capturing participants’ final strides back down the hill to Mills Creek.
Once the final walkers crossed the finish line an excited crowd gathered in front of BAC’s entrance to watch the Christmas-themed prize ceremony. Categories included top 3 male and female under-18 juniors, top male and female walkers and top 3 male and female overall. “No age groups here, it’s Christmas!”
After the top finishers were recognized the organizers put on a hilarious costume contest to appreciate all of the festive participants wearing elf hats, santa costumes and bells. And leotards, don’t forget about the leotards. Finally there were a handful of prize drawings for bicycle pumps, Quality Street chocolates, turkeys and a $500 gift card to BAC. Big thanks to them for their support!
