Previous PRK post here (Operation Day). Next PRK post here (Day 3).
Today has been a mixture of OK, with not-so-OK-holy-crap-this-is-painful. There are moments when I don’t need sunglasses, and then moments when I cannot see much at all and my eyes start streaming. They are so sore. I’m afraid to touch my face or accidentally rub my eyes. I felt a dull headache earlier and laid down to make it go away. My brief foray outside to check the mail required that I wear two pairs of sunglasses, one over another (very attractive).
In terms of medication, I have been using steroid and antibiotic drops at every meal (4 times a day) and the pain drops whenever I feel necessary. Whenever I remember I squirt use artificial tears too (these need to be used very frequently because the nerve endings are impaired during surgery and will not signal dryness as they do normally). I was told the more you use the artificial tears, the faster your eyes will heal, so I have been using them like no one’s business. Another tip. Put all your drops in the fridge and they will be so much more soothing. Really works. Thank the nurse for that one.
I have basically slept all day. Trying to stay hydrated. Will probably take a painkiller to help me sleep tonight.
